Echocardiogram

What is Echocardiogram?

An ultrasound on your heart that employs sound waves (ultrasound) to record moving images is known as an echocardiogram. This test is useful for determining the size of the heart’s chambers and walls, the strength of the heart’s muscles and valves, the presence of blood clots or masses inside the heart, fluid surrounding the organ, the existence of holes or other defects between the heart chambers, and abnormalities in the heart’s blood flow. You will be required to take off everything from your waist up. On a test bed, you will then be instructed to lie on your left side. We’ll stick electrodes on your chest during the scan so we can keep an eye on your heartbeat and rhythm. A small probe will be slid over your chest after gel has been placed to see your heart from various perspectives. Moving pictures will be captured over time. Although the length of time does depend on the complexity of your case, it can take up to 30 minutes to finish. For this exam, there is no need for preparation.

Duration

It will take about 45 minutes to complete this exam. Please dress comfortably and put on shoes for walking.
